What’s the maximum bearing capacity for the curtain driver?
The maximum bearing capacity is 12 kg with U-rails and rods, and about 8 kg with I-rails. The actual bearing capacity will be affected by factors such as wear of curtain rings, aging of rails and dirtiness.
How long is the battery life?
In an example where the length of the track/rod is 1.5m, the weight of the curtain is 12kg, and the device is scheduled to open and close the curtain once a day, the curtain driver can run for around 9 – 10 months.
Note that the battery life can be influenced by other factors, such as the friction between the curtain and the track.
Can you tug-to-open or close?
Yes, this feature is supported. Simply do a quick tug of the curtain, and the driver responds by automatically opening or closing the full length of the curtain.
How does this work for centre open curtains?
You will need 2 drivers.

This product is mostly meant for retrofit applications – that is, that they are meant to be conveniently installed into existing, non-smart tracks.
The Aqara Smart Curtain Control, on the other hand, is a fully integrated motor + track system that is built as a smart motorized control from the ground up. It has several benefits over the Curtain Driver E1:
